StackTeck Systems Inc., the Brampton, Ontario-based maker of molds for packaging and food service, is beefing up its pilot cell for in-mold labeling, by purchasing a six-axis articulating ABB robot, and a high-speed side-entry robot from CBW Automation.
StackTeck had been showcasing the automation brands, but now the mold maker has purchased the equipment as a permanent asset, to maintain the IML pilot cell on an ongoing basis.
The cell is set up beside a 330-ton Husky press, but it can be moved to other machines as needed. The system is equipped to run a single-cavity mold, with automated handling of pre-cut labels, plus part de-molding and stacking.
StackTeck’s technical services center has 10 bays for mold testing, and another four bays for systems integrations. The injection presses range in clamping force from 110 tons to 660 tons.
