Today Plastics News published its annual ranking of North American Film and Sheet Manufacturers. Here are a few interesting facts from the data.

There are 180 firms ranking with an average film & sheet sales per company of $183.92 million, which is on par with last year and in line with flat averages for polyethylene resin pricing for 2012.

The industry consolidation trend continues with 5 of the top 15 either having sold or acquired other businesses.

Welcome to the ranking – these firms are new this year: Clysar LLC of Clinton, Iowa: Tekra Corp. of New Berlin, Wis.; Cello-Pack Specialty Films & Lamination of Buffalo, N.Y.; Volm Cos. Inc. of Antigo, Wis.; Valley Industrial Products of Fort Valley, Ga.; Elite Extrusion Technology Inc. of St. Charles, Ill., and Pilcher Hamilton Corp. of Willowbrook, Ill.

Here are the top 10 movers: these firms have moved up the most positions in the ranking:

Ronald Mark Associates Inc. of Hillside, N.J., moves up 37 places to 106 with sales of $40 million.

Polymer Packaging Inc. of Massillon, Ohio, moves up 21 places to 81 with sales of $60 million.

Poly Pak America Inc. of Los Angeles moves up 21 places to 92 with sales of $50 million.

Charter NEX Films Inc. of Milton, Wis., moves up 12 places to 47 with estimated sales of $150 million.

Mid South Extrusion Inc. of Monroe, La., moves up 10 places to 77 with sales of $65 million.

Multi-Plastics Extrusions Inc. of Hazleton, Pa., moves up 9 places to 44 with sales of $163 million.

Ajedium Films of Newark, Del., moves up 7 places to 150 with sales of $10 million.

Plascon Films Inc. of Traverse City, Mich., moves up 7 places to 155 with sales of $8 million.

Achilles USA Inc. of Everett, Wash., moves up 7 places to 71 with estimated sales of $70 million

Pinnacle Films Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., moves up 6 places to 101 with estimated sales of $46 million.
