Dynisco wins 'Gold Stevie' award

FRANKLIN, MASS. — Dynisco LLC has a won a Gold Stevie Award for development of the Vertex mercury-free sensor, and a Silver Stevie in the Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year for companies up to 2,500 employees.

Dynisco officials received the awards at a Sept. 16 banquet in San Francisco.

Earlier this summer, the Vertex sensors also picked up a 2013 Innovation Award from Flow Control magazine.

The American Business Awards judges acknowledged that the Vertex sensor sets a higher standard for control of melt pressure in plastics extruders. The Vertex, introduced last fall, uses no mercury or any other fill medium. Franklin-based Dynisco said the sensor is a drop-in replacement for existing devices.

Dynisco's selection as a Silver Award winner for Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year comes from the use of a new product development approach called Simply Complex. The process, developed in-house, challenges complexity throughout the company, in product design, product line structure, model names, marketing and customer ordering.

The company used Simply Complex when developing the Vertex, and it will be replicated throughout Dynisco.

"Too often, I think people assume that innovation comes only from young, start-up companies," said Matthew Carrara, vice president and general manager, in a news release. "We are a 65-year-old company that is both experienced and innovative, and to have our efforts validated in an open competition like the ABA Stevie Awards is very gratifying."
