Brown Machine thinks globally with VersaForm

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY — U.S. thermoforming equipment maker Brown Machine LLC (Hall 3/G86) is to launch an assault on the global plastic packaging market with its new compact VersaForm model debuted at K 2013 Oct. 16.

“The forming area of the new VersaForm is much more compact than that of a lot of machines we produce for the U.S., as these didn’t fit into the areas allocated for thermoforming in other countries, and they were also too big for the volume required,” said Jim Robbins, Brown Machine’s vice president of sales and marketing.

The VersaForm FTS-760, available in Form/Trim and Form/ Trim/Stack) versions, has a compact molding area of 762 millimeters by 520 millimeters.  

While traditionally in the U.S. thermoforming machines use form-up technology, the new Versa¬Form is supplied so plastic packaging producers can form-down and form-up.

Brown Machine’s new thermoformer comes with metric dimensions and metric fasteners. It is designed to accommodate quicker tool changeovers, and faster production set-up times to address the needs of varying production runs.

“This machine has taken us a couple of years to develop,” Robbins said. “We talked to customers and studied the equipment needs of various segments outside the U.S.  We hope the new VersaForm, which we believe is competitively priced, will give us a good presence in the global marketplace.”

The new Brown Machine has been designed to meet the production requirements in Europe, Russia, Latin America, South America, Pacific Rim and Middle East marketplaces.
