Ametek buys Creaform for $120 million

Ametek Inc. has purchased Creaform Inc., a maker of 3D measurement systems and portable scanners.

Ametek, based in Berwyn, Pa., is paying $120 million for Creaform of Lévis, Québec.

Creaform makes portable three-dimensional scanning systems as well as portable coordinate measuring machines and other accessories used in reverse engineering and to test production quality. It has annual sales of about $52 million.

It will become part of Ametek's electronic instruments group.
