Plastics News’ tribute to longtime industry veteran Peter Bemis, who died in October after months of battling cancer [“Bemis recalled as folksy, one of a kind,” by Robert Grace, Nov. 4], spurred several reader responses.

We share those letters with you here.

That was an absolutely terrific article you did on Peter Bemis. I only met him once, but one can tell by the great people they [Bemis Manufacturing Co.] have what a wonderful influence he was.

We, of course, love all of our customers, but Bemis has always been one of my favorites.

Fantastic article on Peter. He was a friend, a customer and a competitor of mine. He was a role model to many of us in the industry.

I am so glad you took the time to honor truly a pillar and pioneer of our industry. Excellent work!

Thank you for a polite and correct tribute to Peter Bemis.

He was a gentleman and built a great legacy.

That was a nice reflection that you wrote on Peter Bemis. I, like you, did not know him well but had a couple of meetings and a dinner with him.  But I work with someone, Dan Cykana, who was his right-hand engineer for many years and often spoke highly of Peter.

He will be missed.

Just wanted to say it was a real good profile you wrote about Pete Bemis. I didn’t know him, [but] I think everyone in the plastics business knew of him and his company.

Your piece was well-crafted and provided a personal link to the man and his accomplishments.
