MEXICO CITY — International exhibition organizer E.J. Krause & Associates Inc, of Bethesda, Md., has put off the launch of its second plastics industry show in Mexico for a year.

Plastimagen Norte was to have made its debut in the northern city of Monterrey in early March this year. It will now be held at the Cintermex exhibition center in Monterrey from March 3-5, 2015.

Arturo Morales de la Campa, the show's marketing and communications manager, told Plastics News the change was made to avoid a scenario of two plastics industry exhibitions being held in Mexico in the same month and in the same year.

The 10th edition of Expo Plásticos, run by rival company Trade Show Factory SA de CV, of Monterrey, is scheduled to be held this year in Guadalajara, western Mexico, from March 25-28.

The first eight editions of Expo Plásticos were held in Monterrey. But Trade Show Factory moved the show's ninth edition to Guadalajara in September 2012, in the hope of attracting greater support from the industry.

The seventh edition of Expo Plásticos, held in Monterrey in March 2009, attracted only 3,250 visitors over three days — 2,250 fewer than the sixth edition in 2007 — despite being the only fully plastics-dedicated show in Mexico that year.

E.J. Krause will stage the 19th edition of Plastimagen México in Mexico City from Nov. 18-21, 2014, in partnership with the Tarsus Group plc, of Dublin, Ireland, which bought a 50 percent stake in Plastimagen México last November.

According to E.J. Krause, 27,600 people visited Plastimagen Mexico's 18th edition over four days in March 2013.
