Longtime plastics industry veteran Mark Ludington, 61, of Killingworth, Conn., died Jan. 4 at home after battling cancer.

Ludington had worked for a variety of plastics companies. He was an outside sales representative for the New England area for Meusburger US Inc. of Charlotte, N.C. The company supplies steel plates for mold bases and components used in injection molding and stamping dies.

Iris Winkelbauer, vice president of Meusburger, said that Ludington had worked for the company since December 2012, and was instrumental in growing the business in his region.

She said that they were saddened by his sickness and passing and that Ludington was "specialized in his field. He was very reliable, well organized and a technical expert."

Prior to joining Meusburger, Ludington worked as a representative for Gironi Associates of North Kingston, R.I. He also worked for a long time at Progressive Components of Wauconda, Ill., as well as Connecticut companies, Plastic Design Inc.; and MPS Plastics Inc.

"Mark was a true professional for the plastics industry, while also a joy to work with and travel alongside," said Glenn Starkey, president of Progressive Components.

Mark Ludington is survived by his wife of 30 years, Laura, and three sons, Kevin, Brian and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his mother Betty Ludington, his brother Donald, and sisters Susan Malaro and Lynn Ludington.
