A fire at an Indiana fiberglass components plant was still smoldering the afternoon of Feb. 4, three days after it began.

The Lami Plast Inc. operation in Osolo Township, near Elkhart, destroyed a 55,000-square-foot facility, according to a South Bend Tribune report. The plant was unoccupied at the time and no one was hurt.

"There are still some hot spots," said an Osolo Township Fire Department spokesman in a Feb. 4 phone conversation with Plastics News. Damage estimates, potential causes and other details were unavailable at the time because officials had not studied the scene.

Lami Plast made fiberglass parts for recreational vehicles in the plant. The operation reportedly employed 18. Office manager Kathryn Wells told the South Bend Tribune that Lami Plast was building a larger facility in Bristol, Ind.

Attempts to reach Lami Plast's owner and president, Russell Rodeghrer, in Lami Plast's Torrance, Calif., office were unsuccessful.
