Magna forms Chinese joint venture for front end systems

Canadian auto supplier Magna International Inc. has created a joint venture with Chongqing Guangneng Rongneng Trim Co. Ltd. to produce front end systems in Hangzhou, China.

The companies will be 50-50 partners of Magna Guangneng Automotive Trim System. Magna is based in Aurora, Ontario, and Chongqing Guangneng is based in Chongqing.

The new plant will assemble and sequence front end modules for automakers in China. Joe Pittel, global president of Magna exteriors, interiors and seating said in a Feb. 4 news release that the new venture recognizes China’s continuing importance in the global auto industry.

Front end modules typically include plastic bumper fascias, lighting, and heating and cooling elements.
