The Plastics Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell has completed the renovation of the Leistritz Twin-Screw Compounding Laboratory in Lowell, Mass.

UMass Lowell held an open house to unveil the facility last fall. In addition to American Leistritz Extruder Corp.’s previous donation of a ZSE-27HP twin-screw extruder, the company also has established a Leistritz Endowed Scholarship Fund for plastics engineering students at UMass Lowell.

In other news, the company in Sommerville, N.J., is holding its ninth annual Pharmaceutical Extrusion Seminar June 18-19. And American Leistritz will deliver two technical papers at the Society of Plastics Engineers’ Continuous Compounding Topcon, March 11-13 at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The topics: twin-screw developments to process bioplastics and the use of anti-seize material.
