Dieffenbacher GmbH continues its working relationship with the Fraunhofer Project Center in London, Ontario, centered on the area of fiber composites in lightweight construction.

Dieffenbacher North America Inc. is based Windsor, Ontario. The parent company is in Eppingen, Germany.

Existing Dieffenbacher plants in North America have used glass fiber-reinforced thermosets and long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics to develop and produce semi-structural components. The addition of the Fraunhofer Preform Center, which is currently under construction, will expand the range of applications to include those involving carbon fiber-reinforced composites.

At the Preform Center, production will be fully automatic, not the traditional producing by hand, according to Dieffenbacher.

The new technology should be commissioned at the end of March.
