StackTeck Systems Ltd. of Brampton, Ontario, has announced a new application for its five-piece collapsing core for high-volume jars: with a mold sold to Industrias FC, SA de, CV in Mexico.

The technology enables creative molding solutions, including 360 degrees of internal threads or undercuts, and containers or closures with smaller neck diameters that the core or body, such as cosmetics or food jars. The collapsing core design allows the injection molding of parts that normally have been molded via injection-blow or extrusion-blow methods for wide-mouth jars.

Javier Fernandez, CEO at Industrias FC, said the company won a job for high-volume cosmetics packaging, competing against other companies that made the part using traditional injection molding.

“The five-piece collapsing core technology enabled us to produce low weight parts with higher cavitation molds, all with a 10-second cycle time, vs. lower cavitation and 18-second cycle time that the traditional injection blow molding offered.,” Fernandez said.
