SENECA, S.C. — Custom injection molder Plastic Products Co. Inc. is setting up its first factory in South Carolina.

The Lindstrom, Minn.-based firm will invest $3.2 million in the facility and create 68 jobs.

Plastic Product Co. expects to begin operations in Seneca in June 2014 and grow its operation in the next month, according to a news release from South Carolina’s Department of Commerce. Eventually the Seneca operation will employ 68.

Plastic Products Co., a wholly employee owned company, had estimated sales of $140 million last year, according to Plastics News’ current injection molding survey. It employs about 820 in facilities in Minnesota, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and Iowa. The survey estimates Plastic Products Co. runs about 240 injection presses.

The Seneca business will be Plastics Product Co.’s eighth production plant, the company stated.

South Carolina is already the destination of some its production and local and state support helped it convince to locate in Seneca in Oconee County.

Company officials were unavailable to elaborate on the Seneca project.
