OSHA fines Ala. plastics firm $200,000 over 'preventable' workplace death

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing fines of nearly $200,000 against ABC Polymer Industries LLC in Helena, Ala., after a worker was pulled into a recycling machine and killed in an industrial accident in August. OSHA said the company did not properly install machine guarding and called it a “preventable tragedy.”


NY bag-maker, town in dispute over odors

A group of residents near Orangetown, N.Y., bag maker Aluf Plastics Inc. filed a class action lawsuit Feb. 20, the latest in a long-running series of concerns with residents over “noxious odors” residents attribute to the factory.
