Spenceley, Strom named to Rotational Molding Hall of Fame

Association of Rotational Molders Bill Spenceley backed a project at Flexahopper Plastics to install more than 500 solar panels on its factory roof to generate power for the plant.

The Association of Rotational Molders has named a Canadian, Bill Spenceley, and Reijo Strom of Finland into the Rotational Molding Hall of Fame.

ARM will induct Spenceley and Strom on Oct. 23 at ARM's annual meeting in Montreal.

Spenceley is owner and president of Flexahopper Plastics Ltd. In Lethbridge, Alberta. He rotomolded his first part at Flexahopper as a summer employee in 1974, just seven years after the company was founded.

He has regularly served ARM as a committee member, speaker and meeting chairman. He earned the Charles D. Frederick Distinguished Service Award in 2014.

Spenceley also has served as chairman of the International Affiliation of Rotational Molding Organization and as president of ARM.

In 2017, Flexahopper Plastics installed more than 500 solar panels on its factory roof to generate power for the plant. Spenceley also has supported industry research and development activities at his factory.

Association of Rotational Molders Reijo Strom has operated Motoral Oy for more than 30 years.

Strom has operated Motoral Oy, his rotomolding company near Helsinki, for more than 30 years. During that time he has been active in ARM in North America and the Nordic ARM in Scandinavia. Strom served twice on the ARM board of directors in the 1990s, on the international and membership committees, and as a presenter of workshops and general sessions at ARM events.

He sponsored annual ARM Nordic events and hosted annual tours of his facilities by design students from four Finnish universities to help promote rotomolding.

Strom also has helped develop innovative parts for the agriculture industry, serving both European and international markets, including his local Scandinavian market.

Motoral won product of the year awards in 2003 and 2009. The company was instrumental in developing the cast silicone technology used to produce open holes in rotomolded parts.
