Cy Elmburg, a plastics company entrepreneur who founded gasoline can maker Blitz USA Inc. has been inducted into the Business Hall of Fame at the University of Tulsa's Collins College of Business.
Elmburg foresaw opportunities in plastics, according to a news release announcing the honor. By 1985, Blitz acquired Platner Industries and moved it operations to Miami, Okla. Soon after, it developed the first line of plastic gas cans.
"They quickly took the market by storm and nearly sent the metal can into obsolescence," the release states.
After a 40-year career, Elmburg and his family sold Blitz USA in 2007. Today he serves as a trustee for the university.
Congratulations to Elmburg.
