Radio.cz has an interesting story about a Czech toy manufacturer re-issuing a classic toy from the country's recent past.
The toys, a line of figurines named Igráček, are described as "a communist-era knock-off of the well-known German Playmobil brand."
The figures feature working characters, including doctors, nurses, bricklayers and mailmen.
The original manufacturer, Igra, went bankrupt in 2006, according to the story, "Czech company re-issues forgotten toy classic from the 1970s."
Now Czech toy maker Efko-Karton s.r.o. has purchased both the tooling and the rights to the line. Starting in August it will re-introduce the toys -- updated to include new features, colors and some new figures.
For molders looking diversify by selling proprietary products, this is an Interesting idea -- to re-introduce an older product that today's adults might purchase for their children and grandchildren.
