Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today called on the state Legislature to pass a ban on plastic bags, possibly as early as December.
A bill that would have banned single-use plastic bags failed in the state Senate this summer. But Schwarzenegger said the state needs to reconsider in order to "terminate" plastic pollution.
"Of course we fell short a few votes, but we said, 'We'll be back,' and we are back again. And maybe in December we can do it. Who knows. And if we don't get it done in December, we'll get it done next year. We're going to try over and over again. Because we have seen in the past that when you don't give up, eventually you can be successful."
Check out the video below. Among other things, he criticizes the American Chemistry Council, saying that outside forces can say a ban would be too costly, but that does not take into account the costs that plastic bags create for shoppers, for local communities and for wildlife.

Finally, we learn the science-based definition of "Schwarzenegger" is "Dumbschmuck".

It is amazing the focus and ignore science. best carbon foot print and enviromental inpact. paper, reusable, plastic bags.
plastic is better in all areas and saves jobs in the USA. All reusable bags are made in china not only do they elimnate jobs in california but they are not recycleble contian lead and are a health hazard if not washed before use, wasting water shortage in california. What is more Amazing is Gloria Molina focusing onthis issue and not unemployment.
Goverment has no place telling amaericans how they should take grocery home.
Chico bag company imports from chine they have 30 job, the plastic industry in California is 26,000 jobs hello.
The reason California is the home to reusable china bag is speacial intrest group like chico bag with lies to create jobs.
Today we ban plastic bags tommorow we ban ? remember your manufacturing sector maybe next.
Lets stop Goverment telling Americans what to do, They need to focus on Jobs, Health care,
Education.
