Taiwan's CCIC to add PU plant

Taichung-based resin producer Coating Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. (CCIC) is investing US$30 million to build a polyurethane facility in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province in east China.

The expansion is driven by rising market demand and short supply of PU products in China, according to an announcement on chinataiwan.org.

CCIC reports annual capacity of 70,000 metric tons and annual sales of NT$4 billion (US$139 million). Details about the new factory are to be announced.

In addition to the headquarters plant in Taichuang, the company also has a seven-year-old PU facility in Kunshan, also in Jiangsu province. It is also building a 37,000-square-meter plant in Vietnam, CCIC said on its Web site. The Taichung site is dedicated to the Taiwan and export market, the Kunshan factory serves the mainland Chinese market, and the Vietnam plant will focus on Southeast Asia.
