Survey: Majority in EU support plastic bag bans
BRUSSELS (Feb. 7, 2012) -- More than 70 percent of people surveyed in the European Union support a ban on plastic bags.

Dow and Teknor Apex working together on flexible PVC
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Jan. 31, 2012) -- Materials firms Dow Chemical Co. and Teknor Apex Co. are working together to make flexible PVC compounds using Dow’s bio-based plasticizers. Teknor already has sent one shipment of the new compounds from its Pawtucket plant. The products also may be made at Teknor’s other U.S. plants as well as in plants in England and China.

Colorado prof. researching catalysts for bioplastics
FORT COLLINS, COLO (Jan. 24, 2012) -- Eugene Chen, a chemistry professor at Colorado State University, has developed several patent-pending chemical processes for converting non-edible plant biomass into bioplastics.

Cardia wins Chinese government contract for waste bags
