China orders antidumping tariff on nylon 6/6 BEIJING (October 13, 2009) -- China’s Ministry of Commerce has concluded that nylon 6/6 resin imported from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Taiwan is hurting China’s
domestic nylon manufacturers. Antidumping duties in the range of 5.3 percent to 37.5 percent have been imposed, starting today.

Metabolix wins federal grant to develop biodegradable resins CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (October 11, 2009) -- Bioplastics maker Metabolix has received a $350,000 federal grant that will be used to develop new, biodegradable resins for blow-molded bottles. The U.S.
Department of Agriculture’s Co-operative State, Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES) is providing the grant to Cambridge, Mass.-based Metabolix.

to jointly invest $1.4 billion to produce downstream chemical intermediates and specialties for the Chinese market.
Chrysler replaces paper manuals with plastic DVDs DETROIT (September 29, 2009) -- Chrysler Group is replacing its traditional owner's manuals with DVDs and an abridged printed guide in an effort to reduce costs and save 930 tons of paper annually.
The searchable DVDs, designed for viewing at home or on some vehicles' entertainment systems, each contain an owner's manual, warranty information, direction for navigation and entertainment systems
and a guide for 24-hour towing assistance.
