Arkema ups bio content of Pebax to 100 percent
EUROPEAN PLASTICS NEWS
COLOMBES, FRANCE (October 11, 2009) -- France-based chemical company Arkema SA has extended its range of Pebax thermoplastic elastomers with a grade made entirely from renewable resources.
Colombes-based Arkema says it created Pebax Rnew100 by combining a bio-sourced polyol with castor oil chemistry. The material is light-weight and resistant to heat, ultra-violet ageing and flexural
and tensile stress, according to the firm.
Pebax Rnew100 is designed for use in applications in eco-design programs, particularly in the auto, electronics and sports equipment sectors.
Other grades in the Pebax range have a bio material content of between 20 and 95 percent.
