BEIJING (October 13, 2009) -- China’s Ministry of Commerce has concluded that nylon 6/6 resin imported from the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, France and Taiwan is hurting China’s
domestic nylon manufacturers. Antidumping duties in the range of 5.3 percent to 37.5 percent have been imposed, starting today.
The antidumping duty rate is 20.9 percent for nylon exporters in Taiwan, France, the U.K., and Italy — with the exception of Radici Chimica SpA of Novara, Italy, which has been granted a relatively
low rate of 5.3 percent.
The rates are higher for American companies — 31.4 percent for St. Louis-based Ascend Performance Materials LLC, 25.2 percent for Wichita, Kan.-based Invista Sarl, and 37.5 percent for all other
U.S. companies.
The announcement, issued on Oct. 12, said the final findings of the case confirmed the June 25 initial ruling. The investigation was launched on Nov. 14, 2008.
China’s leading nylon resin producer Shenma Engineering Plastics Co. Ltd. of Pingdingshan, Henan province, had petitioned for an antidumping investigation in September 2008.
The final rates will be used to adjust preliminary antidumping tariffs charged on nylon 6/6 imports from abovementioned regions between June 26 and Oct. 12.
Nylon 6/6 compounds are not included in this case.
