GW Plastics named PN's 2009 Processor of the Year Vermont firm edges Montrose Molders, Plastikos and PolyPipe for annual honor |
![]() |
Plastics News has named GW Plastics Inc. as its 14th annual Processor of the Year, recognizing overall performance and excellence among North American plastics processors. GW Plastics, which has transitioned into primarily a medical molder in recent years, excelled in all seven categories upon which the finalists were judged. A March 15 cover story in Plastics News will profile the winning company.
PN announced the result March 9 at its Executive Forum 2010 while also honoring the other three finalists -- Montrose Molders Corp., a New Jersey molder now in its third generation of family ownership; Plastikos Inc., a molder of electrical connectors in Pennsylvania; and PolyPipe Inc., a polyethylene pipe extruder based in Texas. This Jan. 4 cover story briefly details some of what makes each of these companies worthy of being a finalist.
View short video features (about 3 minutes per clip) of each finalist. Senior reporter Bill Bregar, who coordinated the award project, did the interviews and shot the videos. PN reporter/copy editor Dan Hockensmith edited, produced and narrated the videos:

A team of PN editorial judges short-listed the finalists late last year from among 17 nominees. Nominees are put through a rigorous vetting process by a judging committee comprising Plastics News editorial members, and Bregar then visited each finalist's headquarters to get a first-hand look at the company and meet its executives and workers.
