Cartoon didn't depict real job-loss reasons

I have seen so many articles about how mold makers in the United States are lazy and they should automate, and the only reason that the industry is slow, like now, is because we aren't as sophisticated in new trends like our overseas competition. Who believes that? Many top-class mold shops here have all the equipment, and mold makers with 20-30 years of experience to make the technology work like no one else in the world. That is not the issue.

When was the last time someone said, “We went overseas because of the experienced people,” or “We went overseas because they do a better job”? How about never!

The price takes them overseas, and that's why our business is slow. Your editorial cartoon (Oct. 14, Page 6, “Two paths toward saving U.S. mold-making jobs”) should have the marchers' signs showing that we have the technology, know-how and skill second to no one, because that is true. Showing us like bureaucratic lazy people who just want handouts is unfair and untrue and serving to the wrong cause.

There are hundreds of skilled laborers in this country that used to make good money but are no longer employed because of the labor rates overseas.

Should we get paid $2 a day? Would that make these people happy? But they don't want to make any less and live in a communist country, do they?
