DETROIT (Nov. 3, 4:40 p.m. ET) -- Auctions are set Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 for two closed Visteon Corp. plants in Ohio and Missouri while surplus equipment from CertainTeed Corp.’s vinyl siding operation in Social Circle, Ga., will be auctioned on Dec. 3.
Visteon, based in the Detroit suburb of Van Buren Township, Mich., has been shutting down operations including the plants in Springfield, Ohio, and Eureka, Mo., as part of its restructuring as it works its way through Chapter 11 protection with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del.
The auctions conducted by GoIndustry DoveBid include thermoforming and injection molding presses, with some of the presses purchased in 2008. The sale also covers robots, a material handling silo system, ultrasonic welders, tool making equipment and compressed air dryers.
CertainTeed of Valley Forge, Pa., is closing its vinyl siding lines in Social Circle as it consolidates production, although it continues to manufacture cellular PVC restoration millwork and trim products at the site.
Auctioneers from Stuart B. Millner & Associates of St. Louis will oversee the sale of the excess equipment in private sales and the December auction. The assets include a custom blending and automated material handling system that includes unloading equipment from railcars.
