LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY (Nov. 25, 10:15 a.m. ET) -- Bayer MaterialScience AG and Malibu Plastica Ltd. have entered a joint venture to supply polycarbonate sheet in India.
The JV will be named Bayer Malibu Polymers Private Ltd. and be headquartered in Ahmedabad, India.
Ahmedabad-based Malibu Plastica was founded in 1987 and claims to be the first company in India to make PC sheet.
The joint venture will make solid, multiwall and corrugated sheet, as well as thermoformed products, for end-markets including industrial applications, buildings & construction, outdoor signage, and windows and interior fittings for mass transportation vehicles.
Leverkusen-based Bayer MaterialScience has eight sheet manufacturing sites, located in Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Mexico and the United States.
Malibu Plastica makes extruded and coextruded compact solid sheet, embossed sheet, pipe, profiles and thermoformed articles. The company currently has capacity to extrude 800 metric tonnes of sheet annually.
