a) Berry Plastics Corp. acquired previously ranked Erie Plastics Corp. in late 2008, after Erie filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Berry closed Erie’s headquarters plant in Corry, Pa.
b) Decoma International of America Inc., a unit of Magna International Inc., acquired the exterior automotive plastics assets of Plastech Engineered Products Inc. in mid-2008 for $24.7 million. Magna said it would close Plastech’s five exterior products plants.
c) Guardian Industries Corp. bought Siegel-Robert Inc.’s auto trim business in mid-2008, combining it with Guardian Automotive, and spun off those operations in early 2009 to create SRG Global Inc.
d) Rexam plc’s injection molding sales do not reflect the buyout of its Mexican partner in the Pavisa Industries SA de CV joint venture in Tlalnepantla.
e) Ford Motor Co. has repeated its plans to sell or close all Automotive Components Holdings LLC plants. Ford’s anticipated sale of ACH plants in Milan and Saline, Mich., and Sandusky, Ohio, did not materialize.
f) Inteva Products LLC is the former interiors and closures unit of Delphi Corp.
g) Fortis Plastics LLC’s listing represents the consolidation of Atlantis Plastics Molded Products Group and L&P Plastics, both acquired by Monomoy Capital Partners LP in 2008. Also included is a Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, injection molding plant recently acquired from Moll Industries Inc.
h) Key Plastics LLC completed its prepackaged reorganization Feb. 13, following its Chapter 11 filing in December 2008.
i) Portola Packaging Inc. emerged from prepackaged Chapter 11 in November 2008.
j) Thomas & Betts Corp.’s listing previously was listed under Lamson & Sessions Co., which T&B acquired and integrated into its electrical division.
k) Flex-N-Gate Corp.’s listing includes Blackhawk Automotive Plastics Inc., acquired in March 2008. Flex-N-Gate is idling production of its D.D.M. Plastics Co. auto parts division in Tillsonburg, Ontario, in April 2009, and laying off about 160 workers there. Separately, Flex-N-Gate and Automotive Components Holdings LLC have terminated a proposed purchase of ACH’s Milan, Mich., plant.
l) Solo Cup Co. plans to shut down its Highland Park, Ill., factory and headquarters and relocate corporate offices to Lake Forest, Ill., by midyear 2009.
m) MedPlast Inc. was formed from K&W Medical Specialties and the former rubber and plastics division of Applied Tech Products Corp., which were acquired in April 2008 by Baird Capital Partners. Applied Tech’s beauty-care business, which was not included in the sale to Baird, is listed in this ranking.
n) Menasha Corp.’s Orbis Corp. subsidiary, in Oconomowoc, Wis., acquired Norseman Plastics in fall 2008.
o) As a result of Rehau AG + Co. reorganizing its divisions, Rehau Automotive LLC has replaced the Rehau Inc. listing.
p) Thomson Plastics Inc. will close its Sandersville, Ga., plant and consolidate those operations in Thomson, Ga., in July.
q) Amcor Ltd. is in talks to buy part of the Alcan Packaging business owned by Rio Tinto plc.
r) River Bend Industries LLC acquired previously ranked Victor Plastics Inc. of North Liberty, Iowa, in April 2008.
s) Inoac Group North America LLC previously was listed as Inoac Automotive LLC.
t) ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. divested its ATS Precision Components Group unit to a management-led group, which renamed the operation ACS Precision Components Partnership.
u) Midwest Plastic Components changed its name to Spectrum Plastics Group on June 1, 2008.
v) Automotive metal components firm Catalina Precision Products Inc. acquired UFE Inc. in 2008.
w) In September 2008, LMT Mercer Group Inc. acquired the assets of Alpine Plastics Inc of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
x) IntriCon Inc., previously listed under RTI Medical, is now named after its corporate parent.
y) Plastic Systems LLC acquired previously ranked Millennium Plastics Technologies LLC on June 2, 2008.
z) Artistic Plastics Inc. bought TNT Plastic Molding Inc. in 2006. The companies, previously listed separately, have consolidated operations under the TNT identity.
aa) Texen Co. Ltd., a packaging unit of PSB Industries SA of Annecy, France, acquired Mar-Lee Cos. on July 24, 2008.
bb) Kongsberg Automotive’s parent acquired Teleflex Inc.’s global motion systems division, including previously listed Norland Plastics Co., in January 2008. Norland’s only plant, in Haysville, Kan., is closing in June 2009 and production is moving to Mexico.
cc) Solid State Stamping Inc. changed its own name to Sunstone Components Group Inc. after acquiring Molding International and Engineering Inc. on April 15, 2008.
dd) Viking Plastics Inc. acquired previously ranked CP Plastics Group Inc. in late 2008.
ee) SMC Stoesser is the former Stoesser-Gordon Plastics, which was acquired by SMC Ltd. in August 2008.
ff) Sapona Plastics LLC acquired the previously ranked thermoplastics division of Premier Molded Plastics Co. in October 2008 and closed the unit’s Leland, N.C. headquarters operation.
gg) Gerresheimer Wilden Plastics (USA) LP had been listed as Wilden Plastics (USA) LP.
hh) Dynamic Group had been listed as Dyna-Plast Inc.
ii) Accu-Tech Products Inc. had been listed as Accu-Tech Plastics.
jj) Under new ownership, Innovative Mold Inc. changed its name to Taurus Engineering and Manufacturing Inc.
kk) Q&D Manufacturing Corp. had been listed as Q&D Plastics Inc.
