We read with interest Ron Gonen's comments on polystyrene foam and recycling in New York City [April 8 Perspective, Page 7]. First, we congratulate the city on its ambitious and appropriate recycling goals, and we look forward to working together to make those goals a reality.

Judging by the response we received from our members, your article “Study ties cancer to plastics employment” (Nov. 26, Page 1) drew quite a bit of interest from plastics industry employees and employers alike, and we can certainly understand why. The headline and lede incorrectly suggest a direct causal relationship between workers...

Regarding the Nov. 19 “The Plastics Blog” item by Don Loepp, “Plastics Hall of Famer stands up for polystyrene,”] Professor Richard S. Stein is absolutely right to mention that polystyrene disposables or cups are made from polystyrene and not styrene.

Logically speaking, Steve Toloken’s opinion piece (“CSPA ad a cause for fact-checking,” Nov. 19, Page 6) made many errors by making blanket statements about the organizers of the China Scrap Plastics Association and Beijing Guojiajiye Info Co. Ltd., which jointly held the Eighth China Plastics Recycling and Exhibition & Congress....

I am puzzled about a quote from a North Carolina official about cities not being rewarded for their recycling efforts (“Recycled resin demand drives support for extended producer responsibility,” May 21, Page 8). Here in suburban Philadelphia, our township officials say just the opposite....

There have been a lot of plastic bag bans put into effect over the last two years. What defines a “single-use plastic bag”? I ask as I have encountered in Canada a 5-cent fee for getting a plastic bag, but I was not charged when I brought my own plastic bag.
