Complete economic information on the plastics industry

The Society of the Plastics Industry Economic Report online is being expanded. The original comprehensive report uses government data to detail the U.S. plastics industry's size, shipments, productivity and global economic impact. The entire report, titled SPIER Online, is available here on a subscription basis. The text is in PDF format and can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat, and the many tables of detailed data can be sorted and graphed. Two new reports produced by the SPI are being added to this Web site and full access to PDF versions of both is included in all subscriptions:
  • State-by-State Guide to Resin and Equipment: An Analysis of the Townsend-Tarnell Database tabulates and analyzes summary data from the TownsendTarnell "Buyer Profiles" database to provide more detailed information on plastics processing. It includes state data on resin consumption, number of installed machines by types, and number of facilities. TownsendTarnell tries to gather data annually from all important plastics processors in the country. View the Table of Contents for this report.
  • 2001 Annual Report by the SPI's Committee on Equipment Statistics looks in detail at the U.S. plastics machinery and equipment industry. It provides for the first time detailed economic information on new orders and shipments in 2000 and explains what the U.S. economic indicators mean for the plastics equipment industry in 2001.
