We put in a lot of research to pull together our processor rankings, they are very popular projects with our readers. Published regularly throughout the year and reprinted in The Book, Plastics News' complete collection of annual rankings, the All Access information includes details we don't have room for in print. It even includes information not available online, but still considered as we customize the data in each venue.
The complete dataset and all the information we collect is available in spreadsheet files available to All Access subscribers.
Print versions of this data is updated based on the editorial calendar, typically including all companies listed. The Book is limited to the Top 100 for most, but does include any updates or corrections made after original publication. These can be all be found within our digital editions.
For our six processor rankings listed online, we display the company name, location and website, plus related sales figures, the number of plants and employees, materials used, end markets served, and the top official's name and title.
The downloaded version of the data includes all the data collected, such as sales breakouts, processes used, secondary services, number of lines or presses, materials volumes and each ranking's related plant location details. These downloads are in MS Excel format.
What else will you find in our data center?
As the solo resident ranking expert, I am kept busy year round with annual updates, but occasionally I do find a window to explore new data projects. Most recently I've pulled together some capital expenditure figures and presented them as a stand-alone ranking.
Also, I often get asked for historical ranking data. The good news is we have electronic data going back to 2019 and the paper morgue goes back to the very beginning in 1990. The bad news is, it's tough to present every company historically through all the acquisitions and name changes.
My best solution for a snack-sized data trend review, is to offer our files, as presented five years ago. These 2019 snapshots are labeled as the Ranking Data Time Machine. Other historic snapshots can be requested, just shoot me a note at [email protected]
We track more than $156 billion in related North American processing sales. Look for each published update and it's blog for details behind all the results.
