GRANVILLE, OHIO - The International Copper Association has initiated a new marketing program promoting the use of copper-alloy molds in the plastics industry. A survey of molders and mold makers conducted by the group showed the demand for cast and wrought copper alloys to be about 100 million pounds per year worldwide, according to information released by ICA.
Advantages of copper alloys include a high rate of thermal conductivity, which can reduce cycle time and improve overall part quality in thermoplastic and thermoset molding processes.
Suppliers, foundries and mold makers with an interest in copper-alloy molds for the plastics industry should contact Kenneth Apacki of Isorca Inc., a composites development firm, in Granville at (614) 587-3262 or fax (614) 587-1881. Isorca is implementing the program for ICA.
