TEMPE, ARIZ. - ICI Fiberite, a Tempe unit of ICI Composites Inc., has agreed to buy the rights to all of the prepreg products and associated resin systems business of Gardena, Calif.-based BP Chemicals (Hitco) Inc. The purchase also includes certain manufacturing equipment and inventory.
The companies did not disclose the purchase price.
Separately, ICI Fiberite plans to consolidate its Textile Technology business in Greenville, Texas, into its main weaving business group, also in Greenville.
The unit will discontinue manufacturing of engineered preforms for resin transfer molding applications. However, it will continue production of aramid, jet-engine, containment case systems and two-dimensional, high-modulus fabrics for space applications, ICI Fiberite said in a news release.
Ciba-Geigy Corp.'s Formulated Materials Group has acquired the tooling product line of Thermoset Plastics Inc. of Indianapolis. The sale includes Thermoset Plastics' epoxy, polyurethane and silicone materials for surface coating, laminating and mold making, Ciba-Geigy said. Ciba-Geigy is based in East Lansing, Mich. Thermoset Plastics will continue to make products for electrical and electronics applications.
