PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Teknor Color Co. of Pawtucket on Jan. 17 acquired Accurate Color and Accurate Compounding, privately held, affiliated corporations based in Lodi, Ohio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal provides Teknor a new position in markets for colorants and color concentrates used in rotational molding applications, said Teknor Color President Burt Lederer.
Accurate Color provides dry color and color concentrates, and Accurate Compounding provides precolored compounds primarily to rotational molders, he said. Accurate Compounding also provides compounds for injection molding, blown film and blow molding applications.
Also, Lederer said the acquisition reflects a continuing consolidation of the colorants industry that has seen larger companies buying smaller producers to improve efficiencies.
Accurate Color and Accurate Compounding were founded in 1979. Combined, the companies employ 50.
The addition of the two Lodi facilities increases Teknor Color's manufacturing sites to nine, Lederer said.
Dennis Baker, sales manager for Teknor Color Co.'s southwest region, has been appointed to manage the new facilities.
