LONG BEACH, CALIF. - Plastics News will deliver up-to-the-min-ute industry news at five trade shows this year beginning Feb. 14 at the Western Plastics Exposition in Long Beach. The new publication, Plastics News Extra, will be produced on site at industry events by the newspaper's regular editorial staff.
It will be available free each morning at the show.
``Plastics News Extra is a natural next step in our growth as a news source for the industry,'' said Tony Eagan, publisher.
``Industry members make decisions at these events, so it is important they have current news and information when they attend. Plastics News Extra will deliver that information,'' Eagan said.
Each edition will contain two pages of news and two pages of advertising, and will be published every day of each show. The news will be written by reporters at the show as well as Plastics News staff writers and correspondents around the world.
The WPE edition will be produced Feb. 14-16 by reporters Bill Bregar and John Couretas, correspondent Roger Renstrom and managing editor Ron Shinn.
Future editions are planned for Plast-Ex '95 in Toronto, May 1-4; Plastics Fair Cleveland, June 13-15; Plastics USA in Chicago, Sept. 12-14; and Plastics Fair Providence (R.I.), Oct. 24-26.
The new publication aimed at trade show attendees is one of two new editorial projects. Eagan announced that Plastics News also is launching this month a weekly, Spanish-language news fax service to more than 1,000 processors and industry officials in Mexico.
Titled MexiFax, it will be produced in Plastics News' Akron, Ohio, office.
Correspondent Richard Higgs in Mexico City will contribute along with the newspaper's regular editorial staff.
The news fax will be broadcast over the weekend, to be on readers' desks every Monday.
Each issue of the one-page MexiFax will carry one advertisement.
