STERLING HEIGHTS, MICH. - Effective April 1, processor customers of Gain Technologies Inc. no longer will have to buy separate licenses to use the company's gas-assisted molding technology. Gain Technologies said customers automatically will be authorized to use all proprietary processes once they purchase equipment - in the form of Senior and Junior Gas Kits - from Gain, based in Sterling Heights.
In the past, Gain Technologies' clients in the molding industry had three options-license Gain technology for an entire plant, license the technology on a per-mold basis or purchase the gas kits from Gain.
Steven VanHoeck, sales director, said Gain Technologies made the changes to simplify the use of gas injection by industry. Company officials now refer to processors who purchase Gain technology as customers, rather than licensees, he said.
Gain Technologies has about 100 customers worldwide, about half of which are in North America, VanHoeck said. Gain will continue to license equipment supplied by other firms, he said.
