STILLWATER, MINN. - To accommodate expansion, Stillwater-based UFE Inc. has moved its El Paso, Texas, operations into a recently purchased, 100,000-square-foot facility. Robert J. Williams, vice president of operations, said the company had been leasing a building in El Paso for several years.
UFE El Paso has added six Van Dorn Demag injection molding presses, bringing the firm's total to 16. Their clamping forces range from 40 to 175 tons. Williams said UFE plans to add larger presses, in the 400-ton range.
The firm also installed a tool shop in the new facility, giving it mold-maintenance and repair capabilities.
``We plan for this to be more than a molding facility, but also a contract manufacturing plant,'' he said. UFE El Paso employs 45 and plans to hire.
