CHICAGO - Scientific Molding Corp. Ltd., based in Somerset, Wis., is putting the finishing touches on an expansion program valued at about $3 million. The project includes consolidation of four buildings into one 80,000-square-foot building on a 10-acre site.
Mike Johnson, president of the privately owned injection molding company, said the new plant is four times the size of previous facilities.
``We're still growing, and even after the expansion have room for only five or six more presses. Luckily, we have enough acreage to double our size again if we want to,'' he said at the design show in Chicago.
The expansion gave Scientific Molding 10 new Battenfeld and Engel injection molding machines, plus milling machines and electric discharge machines.
Some of the added machinery has not yet arrived at the plant site.
