JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - Carpco Inc. of Jacksonville is expanding its product horizons into the recycling industry, by acting as North American representative for a German equipment maker. Jan Martin, a Carpco sales engineer, said the firm will act as North American agent for S+S Metallsuchgerate and Recyclingtechnik GmbH of Schonberg, Germany, a maker of magnetic, laser and optical sorting machinery.
``Recycling is a new area for us,'' Martin said. ``We have manufactured mineral sorting and detection machinery for a long time, but this is a way for us to expand into other areas.''
Carpco, which makes its sortation machines at its Jacksonville plant, will assemble the German manufacturer's machines there, and will add proprietary equipment. The company also is developing a system for recycling wire cable and fluff, Martin said.
S+S makes magnetic metal detectors and sorters, laser sorters capable of separating opaque plastic from clear, and optical color sorters for plastics.
Portable film recycling system offered
LEWKNOR, ENGLAND - Munchy Ltd., of Lewknor has introduced a portable recycling system for plastic film reprocessing.
The Micra Munchy P40 is a closed-loop machine capable of handling 22-55 pounds of scrap film per hour.
The machine can be moved to different locations within a plastics plant.
The machine features a double-diameter screw, which allows scrap to be fed directly without prior granulation, and results in the waste being in the screw less time, minimizing degradation.
The system also features an optional filtering system, and produces consistent, flaked regrind material, the company said.
