MARYSVILLE, MICH. - Blue Water Plastics Inc. is building a plant in St. Clair, Mich. - its third in that city - to house its low-pressure injection molding operation. Blue Water Plastics recently purchased its third low-pressure machine from Hettinga Technologies Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, said Carl C. Haas, president and chief executive officer. All three Hettingas will operate in the new 90,000-square-foot building. Production will begin there this summer on parts for the automotive and office furniture industries.
Haas said Blue Water Plastics has picked up molding work from Lear Seating Corp. to mold seats for Ford Motor Co.'s Taurus and Sable.
Blue Water Plastics is spending about $9 million on the plant and equipment, Haas said.
With seven plants and 133 injection presses, Blue Water Plastics reported custom injection molding sales of $110.4 million in 1994. The company is based in Marysville.
