BRANDON, MISS. - Multicraft International has opened a 150,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Madison, Miss. The plant, called Multicraft Madison, is the seventh in Mississippi for the company, four of which have injection molding operations.
President Andrew Mallinson of the Brandon-based company said the facility has 84 presses, with clamping forces of 30-300 tons. The presses are primarily for insert molding products such as solenoids, capacitors and electrical components that require encapsulation.
The plant began its manufacturing in March but completion of a $4 million renovation project on the building is expected by November.
``New contracts from Cadillac through Delphi Packard have facilitated the new plant,'' Mallinson said.
Multicraft Madison will produce wire harnesses for Cadillac's North Star engine in conjunction with General Motors' Delphi Packard Electric plant in Clinton, Miss.
The firm specializes in suppression of radio frequency interference for electrical and electronic components through molded encapsulation.
Multicraft employs 750 but expects that to go to 1,100 by midyear because of the Madison facility and expansions in other plants.
