CLEVELAND - M.A. Hanna Co. on April 18 appointed Douglas R. Schrank vice president, North American plastics operations; Garth W. Henry, vice president, international operations; and Michael S. Duffey to vice president and chief financial officer. Schrank has responsibilities for the North American plastic compounding, color and additive concentrates and resin distribution business segments. He reports to Douglas J. McGregor, president and chief operating officer.
The promotions remove many responsibilities for day-to-day operations from McGregor, according to Andy Opila, Hanna's spokesman. McGregor now will have increased responsibilities for strategic planning and other activities at the corporate level. Hanna's rubber com-pounding and engineered shapes operations will continue to report to McGregor.
``Placing the plastics busi-nesses under one officer is consistent with our single-source strategy for the plastics industry,'' McGregor said in a news release.
Schrank was Hanna's vice president and chief financial officer since September 1993.
Henry is now responsible for all international plastics operations including color and additive concentrates business units of Wilson Color, Europe, Synthecolor Inc. and M.A. Hanna de Mexico Polimeros; plastics compounding operation Th. Bergmann & Co. GmbH Kunststoffwerk; and M.A. Hanna de Mexico resin distribution.
Henry joined Hanna in 1975, serving most recently as vice president of operations.
Duffey was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer, replacing Schrank. Duffey joined Hanna as treasurer in July 1994.
Hanna is a Cleveland chemical company that serves the plastics and rubber industries.
