JUNCOS, PUERTO RICO - Atlantic Thermoform Corp. will install a sixth thermoforming line and a precision trimming machine at its Juncos facility. President David Frazier said his firm is investing about $250,000 in the project to meet growing needs of local manufacturers of health-care products. It will install the new equipment in May.
Atlantic Thermoform bought a Brown C2100 continuous-feed thermoformer and a matched-metal die trim press for clean-cut precise trimming of trays, blister packs and other health-care products, Frazier said.
Health- and personal-care industries account for about 60 percent of the firm's sales. Electronics and other markets make up the rest of Atlantic's annual sales of more than $4 million a year. It does most of its business in Puerto Rico.
Frazier, Atlantic co-owner, said the company probably will need another high-volume thermoforming machine next year. It processes glycol-modified PET, vinyl and high-impact polystyrene sheet.
Atlantic was formed in 1988 to supply growing industry on the island. The firm makes more than 120 products for about 30 customers. It has 30,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space, and employs 58.
