BOSTON - PTN Publishing Co., the Plastics World publisher that was denied a chance to buy the defunct Plastics Compounding magazine earlier this year, has hired that publication's editor and started its own compounding magazine. PTN formally announced the creation of Plastics Formulating & Compounding magazine in Boston at ANTEC '95. The first issue will be for September/October.
Mary McMurrer is editor and publisher. The publishing director is Robert Moran. PTN, based in Melville, N.Y., exhibited at ANTEC.
The compounding magazine, which will be published six times a year, will have a circulation of at least 18,000, according to PTN.
Advanstar Communications Inc., based in Cleveland, ceased publishing Plastics Compounding after the November/December 1994 issue. Advanstar later announced it was negotiating to sell Plastics Compounding and two other magazines, Plastics Machinery & Equipment and Plastics Compounding, to PTN. But in January of this year, those negotiations ended.
PTN has owned Plastics World since 1993.
