ANAHEIM, CALIF. - Former XXsys Technologies Inc. executives Paul Pendorf and William Timmerman, and continuing XXsys director Steven Georgiev have formed American Materials & Technologies Corp. in La Jolla, Calif. The firm will pursue opportunities for advanced composite materials, Pendorf said at SAMPE '95 in Anaheim.
In March, Pendorf left XXsys as chief executive officer and Timmerman left as chief financial officer, taking with them a strategy to acquire technology businesses. Georgiev is chairman of the new firm, which retained H.J. Myers & Co. Inc. of Rochester, N.Y., to advise on possible mergers and acquisitions.
Gloria Ma, XXsys chairman and founder, took over as CEO and refocused efforts to commercialize composite retrofit technology for earthquake protection.
XXsys this year expects to qualify its technology to bid for California Department of Transportation retrofit contracts.
XXsys is based in San Diego.
