MINNEAPOLIS - Weyerhaeuser Building Materials Distribution Division has inked two deals to sell building products made from recycled plastics. Weyerhaeuser, based in Minneapolis, on May 31 announced a deal with Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies Inc.
The marketing agreement places AERT's engineered polyethylene and cedar composite lumber in 80 Weyerhaeuser distribution centers throughout the nation.
Joe G. Brooks, AERT president, said 15 of the Weyerhaeuser regional centers had been set to receive AERT's products immediately.
AERT's composites manufacturing division is in Junction, Texas.
Terms were not disclosed. AERT manufacturers profiles for doors, windows and deck planking applications using recycled PE.
Robert Scarborough, Weyerhaeuser national supply manager in Minneapolis, said ``AERT products will allow Weyerhaeuser to broaden its product line to better address this market niche in the growing line of engineered wood products.''
Scarborough added that Weyerhaeuser has just announced an association with Denver-based Innovative Recycled Products. The companies plan to market coextruded PE landscape timbers and parking lot stops in the western United States.
