VACAVILLE, CALIF. - Master Plastics Inc., a custom injection molder in Vacaville, recently added its fifth new Toyo press within a year. The firm, started in 1991, has grown from nine to 16 presses with 55-150 tons of clamping force.
Kurt Hashemian, president, said the firm offers molding in a controlled-temperature environment for the medical and diagnostics industries. The firm operates in a 31,000-square-foot facility and employs 60.
Additionally, the company molds products for the educational toy industry for use by learning institutions, and the beverage dispensing industry.
Master Plastics also offers hot stamping and packaging as secondary services, and mold maintenance and repair capabilities.
Last month, Hashemian hired a new plant manager, Terry Hunt, and is installing a real-time process monitoring system.
In addition to overseeing his company's operations, Hashemian is active in the Community Awareness Program, giving local elementary school students tours of his plant and showing them how he uses regrind from his medical products to mold educational toys.
He also works with the University of California in Davis, Calif., helping with its plastics program and promoting an industry/academic alliance.
