SAO PAULO - Already billed as the largest plastics exposition in the southern hemisphere, BrasilPlast continues to grow. The seventh edition of this biennial trade show, held May 18-24 in SÃo Paulo, attracted 705 exhibiting companies, including about 250 from outside Brazil, and covered 334,800 square feet at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion.
BrasilPlast'93 featured 612 exhibitors occupying 340 booths covering roughly 302,400 square feet.
This year's seven-day show drew more than 70,000 registered visitors, including about 1,900 from abroad, according to Abiplast, one of the show's five sponsoring organizations. BrasilPlast'93 drew about 72,000 visitors, of which 1,800 were foreign, from 37 countries.
Abiplast said registered visitors are counted only once, and not multiple times if they attend several days of the show.
The show's organizers claim BrasilPlast already ranks as the fifth-largest plastics fair in the world, after Germany's K show, Chicago's NPE, Japan's IPF and Italy's Plast.
