WARWICK, R.I. - After four years of development, Betol-Francis Shaw has launched a new range of high-output, single-screw extruders for polyethylene pipe. The Warwick company has targeted the gas distribution and water pipe market for the extruders, based on Betol-Francis Shaw's Mark 5 Series, which features a new barrier flight screw design and grooved feed section.
The PE pipe extruders are available in screw diameters from 2.5-8 inches. The length-to-diameter ratio is 30:1. The machines have bimetallic-lined barrels.
According to the company, PE outputs of more than 1,325 pounds an hour are possible, depending on material grade and application.
